He graduated from Basic High School in Henderson, NV. and received his High School Diploma.
Melvin worked as a civil engineering for King and George LLC.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union 501 and had a passion for baseball (particularly the Dodgers), football, and basketball.
Melvin was proceeded in death by his mother Minnie Sledge, father Clifford Green, brother Kelvin Sledge
He is survived by sons Cory Sledge, Layman Sledge, granddaughters, Zaylee Sledge and Nevaeha Sledge, sisters Dione O'Brien (Green) and Ruth Ray, brothers Demetric Green, Layman Sledge, David Mueller, and Russell Mueller, stepmother Wanda Green, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
