Mitsuko Taira, our cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born on October 9, 1953, in Okinawa, Japan, to Kome and Toyu Taira.
Mitsuko married and traveled from Hong Kong to Canada to the Philippines, and later settled in the United States despite many trials and tribulations. She was dedicated to raising her three daughters, Michele, Jacqueline, and Beatrice.
Her devotion to her grandchildren: Allana Mae, Alexander, Ronald Adrian, Emma, and Eliza is unending. Mitsuko "Grandmama" spent much of her life caring for everyone in the family and was the glue that held the family together. She cared deeply for her family, not out of obligation but because that is who she was.
In 2018, Mitsuko was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and began rigorous treatments. Mitsuko fought a long difficult battle throughout the years which included COVID-19, but she remained a strong, resilient, and stoic woman.
