It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Natividad Benavidez Vidal, who departed this life on May 16, 2025, at the age of 80. A beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and devoted community member, Natividad touched countless lives with her compassion, zest for life, and tireless spirit.
Born on June 25, 1944 in La Union, Ilocos Region, Philippines; Natividad dedicated her life to the care and service of others. A graduate of the nursing program at Arellano University in the Philippines; her career as a certified registered nurse at UMDNJ and at Clara Mass Hospital, spanned over 41 years in the state of New Jersey, during which she provided healing and comfort to her patients, and mentorship to her colleagues. Her gentle hands and steady heart brought solace during times of illness and uncertainty. After retirement, she moved with her late husband Honesto to sunny Las Vegas.
Natividad was the proud mother of three children and the cherished grandmother of one grandchild, each of whom brought her endless joy and pride. Her family was the center of her world, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the smell of pancit cooking in the kitchen.
Beyond her professional and family life, Natividad was an active and passionate member of her community. She founded and was President of the Ilocandia Association of New Jersey, devoted member of the Franciscan Lady of the Poor in New Jersey, organized events, and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to a neighbor in need. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her legacy of generosity will live on in the many lives she uplifted.
A friend to all who was an enduring source of connection between community members, a fun addition to parties, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be dearly missed. Her absence leaves a void in our hearts, but her memory will remain a guiding light.
Natividad was preceded in death by her father, Romualdo Benavidez, her mother, Teodora Lauria Benavidez; her husband, Honesto Valeza Vidal; her son, Nathaniel Benavidez Vidal; and her older sisters: Soledad Lauria Benavidez and Prudencia Benavidez Martin (Pedro); and her brother-in-laws, Herminigildo Cabanban and Alex Pimentel. She is survived by her daughters: Jennifer Vidal Deguzman (Michael) and Vivian Vidal Blackwell (William); her older sisters: Pacifica Benavidez Cabanban and Azucena Benavidez Pimentel; and her grandson, Nestor Hollis Blackwell.
The family invites all who knew and loved Natividad to join them in celebrating her remarkable life.
