Patrick S. Petrie

Patrick S. Petrie, age 76, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022. Patrick was born June 22, 1945 in Colorado to his parents Samuel and Carmine Petrie. Patrick was raised in Denver with sister, Shirley.

Growing up in Colorado, Patrick's enthusiasm for auto racing began early with a great deal of his free time was spent learning how and why the things around him worked. He was an child who also loved the outdoors, spending time with his best friends Mike Dyer, Jim Belnap, Ken Hefner.; and playing football. Patrick graduated from North High School in 1963 and served honorably in the Air National Guard.

On April 22, 1969, Patricks life would change forever, when he married the love of his life, Kathleen Anderson in Denver Colorado. Together, the couple would be blessed with eight children; two daughters: Jodi and Katie; and six sons: Sam, Pat, Joe, Dennis, Jim, Donny. As their family grew, the were also blessed with twelve grandchildren: Megan, Codi, Lacey, Juliana, Madison, Jimmy, Bella, Jacob, Anthony, Maddie, Ian, and Eva.

To support his family, Patrick worked as an automotive mechanic. His career helped balance his personal life, as it afforded him the opportunity to enjoy his enthusiasm for auto racing, but also an interest he could share and pass down to his family. Additionally, he was able to share his love for football just the same.

Patrick was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who was the type of person who would show others his feelings through his actions. He was practical and realistic but was able to be flexible when the need arose. He had a curiosity about the things around him and tried to experience life directly rather than sit back and talk about it. The experiences he treasured most were those he shared with his loved ones, and he will be greatly missed.

Patrick was preceded in death by his wife, Kathie Petrie; parents; Samuel and Carmine Petrie; and his son, Dennis. He survived by his children: Samuel, Jodi, Patrick, Joseph, James, Donald, and Katie; eight granddaughters; and four grandsons.

A visitation for Patrick will be held Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will occur Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM both at Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015. Patrick will be laid to rest at Palm Henderson Cemetery, 800 South Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.
