Rebecca (Becky) Louise Harvey, 77 years of age, born in Queens, New York, most recently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada gently slipped away quietly & entered into eternity on the evening of Sunday, July 25, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. Rebecca went to be with her Lord after a long struggle of multiple ailments she bravely fought over several years. She was a middle child of six of Leroy and Louise (Esposito) Grier both deceased. She married Active Sargent Arthur Lee Harvey (deceased 2004) in 1961, while serving the U.S. Military in Alaska. Becky sent her homemade pineapple coconut cakes to him regularly for a year before he told her he didn’t like coconut, but his buddies loved them. They had two children a daughter Christine (Harvey) Lawrence a public-school teacher in Las Vegas, NV and later a son Michael Jerome Harvey a pilot for a major airline, of Lithia, Florida married to Lisa (Bookout) Harvey. Becky returned to school in 1981 to complete her education and receive her diploma, then continued her studies in hotel management. She worked for Revlon Cosmetics in Edison, New Jersey continuously for 30 years in several different positions including management & running their annual winter sales event, before retiring in 1994. Afterwards, she relocated to Las Vegas, NV and gained employment at the Riviera Casino and Resort in 1995 as a front desk clerk (or princess as some referred to her) and after 20 years retired for the second time. She taught her children by example a strong & disciplined work ethic especially by arriving to work at Revlon 3 hours early. She grew up on her family’s farm in North Pitcher, New York, and later enjoyed roasting marshmallows at campfires, then traveling across country with family and friends. She started baking at 14 and loved cooking multi-cultural cuisines. Some of her best & favorites were pistachio, German-chocolate, & rum cakes; sweet-potato, fresh peach crumb, & strawberry/rutabaga pies. She picked her own peaches in the Garden State where she brought up her children. Her Thai soup was delicious, and she enjoyed making Spanish Piaya & various meat dishes. Becky was extremely talented as a seamstress and decorator. She had a flair for creating soft, calm, and comforting environments besides being the queen of organizational skills. Becky leaves behind one brother Leroy Anthony Grier (referred to as Jr.), sisters Brenda (Greer) Blount, Linda Rose Greer, Wanda (Greer) Washington, and half-siblings’ sisters Lena (Misuraca) Phillips & Jean (Misuraca) Russo. She is predeceased by brother John (Johnny) Anthony Grier and half-siblings’ brothers Salvatore Misuraca and Joseph Misuraca and half-sibling sister Catherine (Greer) Jackson. Becky leaves two grandchildren, granddaughter Olivia Cameron Ann Harvey and grandson Ethan Michael Harvey and a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins & plenty of life-long friends.
Following her wishes for cremation, family and friends are gathering for a Celebration of Life & Reception on Saturday, July 25, 2021, at 1:00pm – 3:00pm in the clubhouse at 4555 East Sahara Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada 89104.
