

Richard Gerald Hackett Richard Gerald Hackett, devoted husband, father and grandfather died on February 7, 2017 in Boulder City Hospital at the age of 95. Richard was born on October 7, 1921 in Madison, Wisconsin to Richard Patrick Hackett and Elizabeth Ruebe Hackett. He married Louise Esther Thompson on February 4, 1947 at the Wee Kirk of the Heather chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were married almost 59 years and were inseparable. He was raised in Madison, Wisconsin until he left home to join the United States Navy in January 1939. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and proudly served during World War II. He graduated from the Honolulu Police Academy on December 6, 1941 but never served as a police officer due to the start of WWII. After the war he settled in the Los Angeles area where he met Louise. He used to laugh and say he chased her until she let him catch her. He retired from the Department of Water and Power and they moved to Lake Isabella, California. They moved to Henderson, Nevada in September 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Edward Hackett and his beloved wife Louise. He is survived by his daughter Patricia McQuatters, son Michael Hackett and his daughter-in-law Adela Hackett, his two grandsons Richard McQuatters and Michael McQuatters, his granddaughter Louise Hackett Elliott, grandson-in-law Scott Elliott and great grandchildren Garrison Elliott and Kaylee Elliott. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Karls - Madison, Wisconsin and Patricia Anderson - Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and his sister-in-law Colleen Hackett as well as many special in-laws, nieces and nephews. Visitation services will be Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Palm Mortuary and Cemetery located at 800 S. Boulder Hwy. from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 9:20 a.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery located at 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, Nevada. Services will be led by his grandson-in-law Scott Elliott.
