

Staff Sergeant Richard C. Preston,73, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his Columbia Falls, Montana home on Tuesday, April 6 2021. Richard was a decorated Air Force veteran who served in the Vietnam war. After an Honorable discharge he served another 10 years in the Army reserves.
SSgt Preston was born October 26,1947 in Stockton California to his parents Joseph Preston and Mildred Rodwell Preston. When he was 17 he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at George Air Force Base ,California. After serving in Vietnam he returned to the states and went back to civilian life. He then went on to serve in Law Enforcement from 1976-1984 in several states including Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming. In 1983 he joined the Army National Guard and served 10 years.
Richard was a computer wizard who enjoyed the outdoors and his pet birds. He also was an avid reader.
Richard is survived by his sisters Carolyn Kline, Donna Preston Dipaola , his brothers Robert Ferguson and Ed Preston, his children Christina Preston Wolford, Amanda Preston, Richard Preston III, Dean Preston and his brother-in-law Victor Kline. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Ferguson ,Joseph Preston, Melvin Ferguson ,and sisters Pat Preston Soriano and Louise Preston.
A private service held at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Where Military Honors were rendered for his honorable service to his country.
