

Robert "Bob" Nicholas Winn, 86, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Desert Springs Hospital, Las Vegas, NV. He was born December 31, 1930, in Roderfield, WV, son of Flora Nierman and John Russel Winn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Lea (Coburn) Winn, brothers Benjamin F Winn, Irvin Winn, Paul Winn, Jasper Lee Thompson, sisters Alice Lowrie and Elsie Kaufman. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Johnson) Winn of Las Vegas, NV, brother, Preston Thompson of Fayetteville, NC, son, Robert David Winn of Erie, PA, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Bob graduated from Iaeger (WV) High School and joined the Army in 1950 where he trained to be a paratrooper. After being honorably discharged in 1953 he married Betty Lea Coburn and moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he was employed by Cleveland Pneumatic Tool Company. He later moved to Streetsboro, Ohio to work in Data Processing/Payroll for the Terex Division of General Motors in Hudson, OH, from which he retired in 1985. He loved to travel across the country and did so for many years after his wife, Betty, passed away in 1986. He loved to visit his family and see the sites. In retirement, Bob enjoyed bowling, Bridge, and Poker with his friends at the senior community. He acquired many bowling trophies, pins, awards and watches. He was a lover of history and science and would watch the NASA and History channels for hours on end. He had the best laugh, which usually resulted in tears and could make everyone around him laugh, even while telling the same jokes others had heard many times before. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In 2015 Bob married Linda Johnson who cared for him until his passing. Bob will be buried at South Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Las Vegas, NV on February 16, 2017 at 10am. A portion of his remains will be buried at Glady Creek Cemetery, Grafton, WV with other members of his family at a later date.
