Rodd Fernandes

Roddy Fernandes, a man with an unwavering spirit of perseverance, dedication, love, and strength passed away after a three year battle of recovery on August 4th, 2026, at the age of 53 with his family and friends surrounding him with unconditional love and support.

Rod was born August 30th, 1972, had a gorgeous, captivating smile that lit up every room he walked into. He had a confidence that made him a cornerstone, a solid foundation, for all to look up to. Rod had a deep appreciation for nature. He enjoyed being in the mountains going fishing and camping with his family and friends by his side.

Rod’s legacy included twenty years in service as a Firefighter-AEMT with seven years as a logistics officer for emergency management for Nye county. Rod will be remembered for all the lives he saved during those years. Whenever there was a call he answered, as a first responder, he was an unsung hero, the first on a scene to save a life.

Throughout his journey in life Rod was blessed to share it with three remarkable women.Whom all engraved a lasting memory of love and friendship in his heart which he will carry with him always.

He is survived by his daughter Dakota Leigh Fernandes, 21 years of age, sister Wendy Beard, 51 years of age, brother Danny Fernandes, 49 years of age, and brother David Schmucker, 34 years of age. He was preceded in death by his mother Leigh Schmucker and father Rodney Fernandes.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all caregivers, doctors, surgeons, surgical teams, nurses, physical therapists, and friends who gave my brother another three years of life.Your expertise, compassion, empathy, dedication and love will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 4:00 PM, August 29th, 2026 at Trinity Church in Pahrump, Nevada.
