Ron graduated Kennewick High School, Tri-Cities, Washington in 1950. Returning often for class reunions which he so enjoyed. In 1955, after receiving degrees in Education from Central Washington University, Ellensburg, Washington he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. This is where he began what would be a life long career in education.
Ron held a teaching position at Red Rock Elementary before moving to his beloved Fremont Junior High School. As Teacher and Guidance Counselor, from 1956 through his retirement in 1988, his love and passion for teaching and helping students was realized. He had the gift of remembering names and faces of all those he encountered and created life long friendships with his students and their parents. His positive influence on generations of students is recognized in the annual Fremont Junior High School Ron Keller Award for student excellence.
On Valentine's Day in 1970, Ron married the love of his life Lily Manke, his Lil or Lily Bird as he would affectionately call her, at First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Las Vegas. Ron and Lily are
lovingly known to their many friends as "the little couple". The couple has lived in Boulder City, Nevada for decades. Ron loved talking to people and never met a stranger. His quick wit always produced a smile with those he came in contact. During their 49 year marriage they enjoyed creating wonderful memories with friends and family, travel, RVing and participating in car shows and parades with his vehicles. Ron owned his first car at age 11 and during his lifetime owned more than a hundred, admiring each and everyone.
Ron was an active member of First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Las Vegas and Christ Lutheran Church in Boulder City. He is survived by his wife, Lily Keller; siblings: LaVelle Keller Heideman, Thurmon Keller and Maryanne Keller; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Henry Stuckert; loving nieces and nephews and dear friends.
