Roy William Detisch Jr. (aka Rick) passed away peacefully at his home on December 4th, 2023, at the age of 76 in Henderson, Nevada. Rick was born January 24th, 1947 in Pittsburg, PA. He grew up in La Puente, CA and graduated from Arroyo High School in 1964.
A proud USMC Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War, he was later honorably discharged in 1969 earning a purple heart.
In 1973 Rick relocated to Las Vegas and for 30 years served as a meat cutter and member of Local 711. In 1991 he began his journey with American Pest Control and for the past 15 years Rick and his wife have continued the legacy of American Pest Control in Las Vegas.
Rick had many passions: golfing, fishing, cooking, and home improvement remodeling (there wasn't anything he couldn't do or fix.) Rick also loved sports, his favorite teams were the L.A. Lakers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He would frequently visit his 2nd home in Crestline, CA where he would enjoy feeding the birds and squirrels. He was loved and admired by so many of his friends and neighbors. Rick lost his battle to an aggressive cancer, but just like he dealt with all his experiences in life, he managed his illness with strength and resilience to the very end. At the time of his passing, Rick was surrounded by his family and children.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Roy William Detisch Sr. and his mother, Betty Mae Detisch.
He is survived by his Wife Sandra (Castleberry) Detisch, his sister Sharon (Detisch) Miskofski, his daughter Deana Michelle (Detisch) Morgan (Richard Morgan), his two sons, Roy William Detisch III (Christina Detisch) and Matthew Charles Detisch, his daughter Erin Detisch, and his grandchildren, Roy WIlliam Detisch IV, Lauren Nicole Detisch, Luke Joseph Detisch and Bella Grace Detisch.
No services will be held at this time, however a celebration of life will be forthcoming, In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF.org) in Rick's name or a donation to any local VA charity.
Sandra and the family would like to thank Nathan Adelson Hospice care team, the Brightstar staff, and a special thank you to Shasta, who took great care of Rick during the last few months of his life.
We know Roy is enjoying a martini right now with his Mother, Father, his Father in-law, and Brother in-law.
