
Long time resident of Henderson passed away at Midnight on September 10,2012. She was born Ruth Ferris Young in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 19, 1923 to Robert Ferris Young and Ruth Patterson Young. She had two brothers and one sister. Her brother Calvin predeceased her and she is survived by her brother Robert Young of Holland, Pennsylvania and Harriett Cornelius of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. Ruth married the love of her life during World War II in 1943 and enjoyed 61 years together with her husband Herbert Dobberstein, who passed away in April of 2005. Ruth was a resident of Henderson since 1960 and was a founding member of the Henderson Presbyterian church and served both as an Elder, Deacon and a member of the choir. In addition to being active with the Presbyterian churches in both Las Vegas, Green Valley and Henderson, she was a Volunteer with Saint Rose at the De Lima and Sienna hospital campuses for the past 30 years and provided over 15,000 hours of help. Ruth was also a member of Eastern Star for the past 40 years and loved to play golf and video poker. She leaves behind two children, Cynthia Cummings of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Eric Dobberstein of Henderson Nevada. She also had 8 grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren. The service will be held at the Henderson Presbyterian church located at 601 North Major at 10:30 on September 25, with a burial following at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd. Boulder City, NV 89005. Ruth asks instead of flowers to make donations to either the Henderson or Green Valley Presbyterian Church.
