Shawn was born in Chicago Illinois, on March 20th, 1959. He graduated from Larkin High school in Elgin, IL and continued on to receive his Master's degree in enjoying life. He loved and lived life to the fullest.
He was a bundle of energy and always active. As a youth he was a star swimmer, as an adult he loved hiking, golfing and especially downhill skiing. He was never happier than when he was cutting down a mountainside on a sunny day with family or friends by his side.
He was a dreamer and not one to be trapped in an office job. After high school, he sold steaks and seafood from a truck, even opened a popsicle stand at a summer music festival (during which the freezer gave out and he ended up giving them all away). He may even have been ahead of his time as a connoisseur of medicinal herbs. Ultimately, to provide for his family, Shawn followed his brother into the painting trade, and spent over 30 years painting businesses and homes around the country. As a member of Union Local 159 he was most proud of his work on several Vegas hotels and would gladly offer a tour to visiting friends and family to show it off.
He was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, nephew and friend. Shawn is survived by his mother Mary Trihas, father Robert Quinn, daughter Melissa Quinn, son and daughter in-law, Shawn Jr and Samantha Quinn, siblings Bob, Kevin, Karyn and Cindy, five grandchildren Jeremy, Ayden, Khobe, Dominic and Scarlett. His second parents Betty and Gene Schaefer, sister in-law Pam and many other Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.
Even at the end, his hugs were strong, sincere and full of love. Every birthday was remembered, every phone call opened with a joke and ended with 'Love you". We love you too Shawn. You will forever be in our hearts.
Family, Friends and others who's lives Shawn touched, are invited to extend condolences, grieve or share a story at a memorial service scheduled at 2 pm on July 11, 2019. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cure PSP Foundation in memory of Shawn at https://in-memory-1.everydayhero.com/us/in-memory-of-shawn-quinn-sr
