IN THE CARE OF

Palm Boulder Highway Mortuary & Cemetery

Victor Barnett Vincent, age 80, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021. He was born on June 12, 1941, in San Bernardino, California, to his father, James B. Vincent, age 42 and his mother, Filomena "Mamie" DeMaio-Mongiello Vincent, age 37. In the summer of 1942, during WWII, his father and oldest brother, Teddy, moved to Henderson, Nevada to seek work at the industrial plants where they lived in a tent that was set up for workers. In June 1943, after his father was able to secure housing, baby Victor along with his mother, 3 sisters, Angie, Charlotte and Margaret and 2 brothers, Donnie and Richey, joined their father and Teddy in Henderson.

In December 1943 his sister, Sharron was born and in April 1946 his youngest brother, Jimmy was born completing their family of 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Victor had a happy childhood growing up in a large Italian family in the small town of Henderson. He was devoted to his mother and relished her homemade Italian cooking and helped out, along with his brothers, at his Dad's Permalite Roofing Company.

He was baptized and attended St. Peter's Catholic Church in Henderson. As a young boy, he was very athletic. He started his freshman year at Basic High School playing varsity basketball and football. His father died the summer before his sophomore year and Mike O'Callaghan, a teacher at Basic High (eventually becoming the Governor of Nevada) watched out for, mentored, guided and kept a close relationship with Victor and his siblings well into adulthood.

In 1960, before graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army (which he loved) serving for 3 years in the United States and Germany. He acquired his high school degree in the Army and after being honorably discharged, he attended Dixie Junior College in St. George, Utah on a football scholarship. He was offered and accepted a football scholarship for Weber State University in Ogden, Utah getting a Master's Degree in Education.

In 1965, while in college, he married a girl from Henderson, Pauline Lewis, and welcomed the birth of his first child, daughter Gina, in 1966. His son Eddie was born in 1967 and his youngest son, Joe, was born in 1969. He was also a volunteer basketball coach at a Native Indian High School and worked for Job Corp in Ogden.

After returning to Henderson, he became Director of the Henderson Boys and Girls Club where he started a successful tutoring program and an award-winning wrestling program. He later opened and ran his own successful construction companies, Mark III and later Vincent Development Company, which he continued to run until his retirement. He was very active in Henderson community affairs and the VFW.

He enjoyed being "Papa" to his 3 granddaughters: Samantha Schneider & Isabella & Carmela Vincent; and 6 grandsons: Anthony & Troy Schneider & Joey, Nick & Alex Vincent and Dante Vincent. He loved cooking his mother's recipe for spaghetti and meatballs for his large extended family.

In his later years he was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and succumbed to that disease on September 10, 2021, at the age of 80 in Henderson, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Teddy and Donnie; his sister Angie; two nephews, Bobby Vincent and Billy Skupa; and niece Carol Kuehl.

He is survived by his daughter Gina; his son Eddie and wife Stephanie; his son Joe and wife Felicia; and by his 9 grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Richard (Renee) Vincent, Jimmy Vincent and his sisters Charlotte (Wiley Strahan), Margaret and Sharron (Bill Skupa) and former wife, Pauline. He leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him dearly, and many close, longtime family friends.

A Military-Catholic private service was held for Victor at Palm Mortuary, Boulder Highway, in Henderson, Nevada, and his ashes have been placed near the grave of his mother and father.
