Walter W. Makasziw, 65 of Henderson, a retired police investigator with law enforcement in Rochester, N.Y., passed away Oct. 31, 2012. Walter was born Jan. 1, 1947, in Mittenwald, Germany, and was a 17-year resident of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter W. and Maria Makasziw. He is survived by his wife, Irene Makasziw of Henderson; daughter, Oksana (Dan) Ward of Concord, N.C.; son, Taras Makasziw of Las Vegas; daughters, Kristie Bray and Kelly (Jeremy) Greer, both of Henderson; four grandchildren, C.J. Ward and Allison Ward of Concord, and Chase Greer and Megan Greer of Henderson; and brother. Tony (Cindy) Makasziw of Rochester. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday Nov. 4, at Palm Mortuary-Eastern, 76-- S. Eastern Ave. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 5, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, E. Maule Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89119. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Park-Henderson, 800 S. Boulder Highway.
