William Edward Belser passed away on April 1, 2013 at the age of 90. Bill was born in Plainfield, NJ on November 2, 1922, where he attended public schools and graduated from Blair Academy in 1940. After enrolling at Lehigh University, he served in the U.S. Army in the 1st Infantry Division in the European Theater during World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Bill then completed his education at Lehigh where he graduated with honors in 1946. He became a CPA and spent his entire career with KPMG LLP, where he was an audit partner in their New York City, Kingston, NY and Washington DC offices. Bill met Joan McGinn while working at a client company and they married on August 8, 1953. They had five children – Charles, Jenny, Claire, Paul, and John. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Las Vegas, where they lived for a number of years. When Joan died in 2004 after more than 50 years of marriage, Bill moved to a retirement community in the Phoenix area, where he met and married Shirley Suchart. Shirley survives him, together with his 5 children, 9 grandchildren, step-daughter Carol, 2 step-grandchildren, and 6 step-great great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at Boulder City Municipal Cemetery, Boulder City, NV, 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 6th, 2013. Condolences may be offered at www.sunlandmemorial.com or at www.palmmortuary.com.
