Alida, we never met in person and we were friends online, but OMG you were funny and made me laugh! I will never forget talking to you about Peru and how you said that you were going to teach me how to dance. Honestly, I cant process this and I don’t understand it, but I know that you are resting in peace.  I love you so much and I pray to God to meet you in heaven so that we can  laugh it up! “That’s the message!” (insider!) Oh my dear Alida, I miss you so much!

I’ll miss you. You always brought smiles and laughter everywhere you were. You will deeply be missed and I look forward to see you at the second coming of Christ, or when I go to meet you in paradise. Whichever comes first. My heart goes out to your family. I love you and will never forget you. Put in a good word for me with GOD almighty. And if you can ask him to help me win lotto or jackpot, that’ll be cool. Take care up there and make sure to watch over us.

Alida; my dear, sweet, lovely Alida... I am trying to make sense of this. I am not sure where to begin. My stomach has been hurting all day. I am overcome with a flurry of emotions.

I have known you for about a decade or so. You were, still are and will continue to be a big sister to me. Although I never got to meet you in person (and sorely regret not experiencing your positivity firsthand), we used to message each other all the time.

You were a confident, a morale booster, someone I would vent with when I felt distraught. Whatever I have done will never be enough to repay your favor onto me.

You were a bomb of energy, laughter, empathy and care. And you still are. A true nurse through-and-through. We knew each other in sickness and in health, in some despair but mostly in a lot of laughter.

Remember how we used to scream and shout "SSync"? Our minds were in sync and we would always think alike. It was almost scary sometimes, if not for all the laughter it brought. But now that you have departed, a piece of me is gone and I can never get it back.

While I have lost a sister that I will miss for the rest of my days, the Heavens have gained a fixture they could never have done without. Just as you shone bright in this life, I know you now pierce the sky in the next.

Above all, know that I wish I could have done more. I am so sorry. A part of me, deep down, has faith that you are somehow reading this. Please visit when you can. You have all the time in the world now.

May the Almighty cover your kind soul and have mercy on Jaimie, your parents, your relatives, and all those of us you touched and inspired in our bereavement.

Oh Alida, I am so sorry to hear about your passing. You were always so funny, inquisitive, smart and caring. I knew you’d be a great nurse and was so happy to see that you went on to become a nurse practitioner. I’m so glad I got to be your teacher and got to know you for a little while. Sending my love to Jaime, your family and all the people who will miss you. I will carry you in my heart. 

There are no words or actions that can truly offer any solace for the gravity of loss in the immense person that was Ali. Ali-ba-ba, you were rambunctious, extremely ambitious, wise, and above all, so loving to everyone around her. In particular, The depth of love and care that Ali had for Jaime is what one hopes for, in a lifetime. 

Our house was always filled with the echos of pure genuine laughter. There was never a room without love, care, & joy and  Ali was a part of it. 
We would have in depth conversations about her aspirations to curing the world from sickness & disease; At that moment, I realized her life’s purpose was so outside herself and the amount of unlimited selflessness she would have given to the world had no bounds. 

Thank you for all the tears of joy and all the lives you have touched and memories that were created; it will not be forgotten and will live on thru us. 

This isn’t a ‘goodbye’ but a ‘see you later’, Ali. You have touched all of our lives more than you know. We all love you for it.

Ali was a ray of light that unfortunately was extinguished far to early.  She came into our lives through our beloved nice Jaimie, and quickly became part of the Martin family.  Ali will be forever remembered and loved!

Ali was an incredible person who was always full of life. I got to know her through my cousin Jaimie, and over the years she became part of our family. I am grateful to have known her and will treasure the memories we all made together. 


Alida my Barry University Nursing classmates partner in crime. I remember we always used to hang out after class, you take me to McDonalds and we go study to the library. We used to make jokes and do silly things during nursing school. You also would wake me up when I am sleeping in class and sing Bee-gees in your car. So many good memories that I will treasure forever. I can’t believe when I heard the news that you have passed away. I wish I knew that you have been battling cancer. I am so sorry Alida for not being able to tell you how grateful I am during our nursing school days with you. I am so sorry I was not able to tell you or even give support during your battle. I have let you down and I am so sorry. I love you my friend and I will be forever grateful for everything during our short period in nursing school. I am blessed that God made our path cross. You are  such a beautiful person, always smiling and cheerful that brightens our day. May you rest in peace my beloved friend! 

Oh Alida, I don’t even feel right writing this. You were my best friend, my sister, my confidant. I don’t want to accept the fact you are gone, it just hurts so much. If I needed you, you were always there telling “ girrrrllll , you better do the right thang huny.” Why you?  I know we’re not suppose to question god’s decisions, but this one I have to question.  You were so young, your mission on earth wasn’t completed yet, so why?!!! 
I’m angry, I’m sad, I feel like I’m going crazy.  I need to hear you, bruh.  I need to see you. I need to laugh with you. I need to yell at you and you yell at me back. Our lunch dates, our crazy calls, our crazy messages…. Why? 
We were suppose to grow old being sisters together remember? Remember I would steal your cane so you wouldn’t move and we’ll laugh. This is just not right, I can’t wrap my head around this. 
You’ve taken your journey before me, but don’t worry I’m headed there one day too. Just know that when I make it to where you are, I’m running to find you, to be with you again.

Ali, words cannot express the sadness I feel when I heard you passed.  I first met you through Jamie in 2014 and I thought you were very quirky and funny. Jaimie always spoke highly of you and we all admired you for all that you accomplished in life. During the last conversation I had with you and Jaimie, you showed me what it was to be strong.  I know that you meant the world to Jaimie and that you fought hard up until the very end, but then it was time for you to let go and let God. You were my best friend for over 15 years. I always looked up to you for your passion and drive, your ability to thrive when challenged, for always going for what you wanted. You were there for me in some of my biggest challenges, you celebrated with me my achievements.
