When I first met Derek, I knew for a fact that I was going to get along with him perfectly. To no surprise, we bonded pretty well. The way he smiled and talked to me made my days a million times better and helped me get through the days. One day he ended up getting a job at the same place I was in, and till this very day I will never forget the amount of need to go to work everyday because I was able to work with such a person, was. I trained him, enjoyed food with him, and made many memories, whether it was at work or outside of work, the memories we made together are ones to hold forever. Through the days at work, we would constantly be in search for foods without any sort of meat in it, not a trace, and it was like doing a scavenger hunt with him. We joked around and laughed ourselves till the very moment we parted ways to continue on to the next day. I will never forget the time he had spent with me and will forever keep it in my heart.

this day derek and my little brother alex was outside and they found this dog on our street in front of our house, and they came to me and said “ayanna come look we found a dog”so i go outside and derek is trying to help the poor dog because she was hurt in bad condition.. she was scared but derek was trying his all to make her feel comfortable. So he goes and tells my mom he wants to keep her but we couldn’t because she didn’t get along with my other dog. Him and i stayed out there sitting on the floor petting the dog and giving her some food, we was talking about how we really wanted to keep her and we can’t leave her out in the street. So he started calling friends and asking if they could take her in just for the night so the next day he can take her to a vet. He came up with an idea and said “ ayanna you should let her sleep in your room” i was like derek BELLA is going to go crazyyyyy he was like it doesn’t matter just for one night so we asked my mom and she let us. the dog got so comfortable with him he cheered her up so much. we both really love animals... he was the person that inspired me to become vegetarian. He was one of a kind he always so caring and always wanted to help. I miss you derek, i love you with everything in me .. i lost a part of me. I’ll always carry on your beautiful energy - Nana ❤️

Derek and I had history together, it was my favorite class because of him. He was the sweetest person. He would always teach me something new each and everyday. Derek deserved the world. He was such a great person. I was very fortunate to meet a sweet guy like him. At some point I would call him my best friend. He was always there for me to give me some of the greatest advice. The world needed a Derek but now god really needed him up there. Whatever he’s up there doing I know for a fact he is watching over us ❤️ Derek was loved by so many people and will be continued to be loved by so many. Derek, you will never be forgotten, the sweet boy in my history class that always brighten up my day 🤍

Derek was my baby boy. He shared the crib with my son since babies. He loved my cooking and my hugs. He was sweet, high-spirited, humble, simple, soul searching... He was one with nature. Derek loved the wild. Derek had an elevated spiritual essence. Leo will miss him terribly.

Greatest kid you could ever meet. You always knew how to put a smile on someone’s face and you just had such an amazing soul. I love how we both loved nature and we’d go on walks at the park or just cruise and enjoy the view. I only got to know you for a couple months until you gave me the news you were moving. You would send me videos of the nature over there and it was just beautiful. It hurts to think this is true... why you.. You literally deserved the best in life ! Such a bright person, always positive, kind to everyone, funny, your laugh was so contagious we’d look at eachother and bust out laughing. I wish I could’ve seen you one last time and laughed with you. My condolences and prayers go out to your family especially your mom..I can’t imagine the pain one goes through losing a child. I love you bro and you will truly be missed but never forgotten.

I remember this one time back in 6th grade he was showing me how he would do his back flips from the ground and on higher places . He used to always scare me whenever he would do it because I was afraid he’ll get hurt . He would make the kids aroun him look at him with amazement because it was something he was very good at .
