Beloved husband of Gloria Maria (Whelpley) Del Gaudio with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, Francisco is survived by and will be deeply missed by son Vicente and his wife Rena, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts; daughter Gloria Italia, of Miami Springs, Florida; and grandchildren, Evan Del Gaudio of Medford, MA and Giovanni Del Gaudio of Miami Springs, FL. Predeceased by grandson Austin Del Gaudio.
Born in Barranquilla, Colombia on February 20, 1933, the son of Margherita (Masciulli) and Vicente Del Gaudio, Francisco emigrated to the U.S. in 1968 to provide a better life and opportunities to his family. In time he managed to support both son and daughter through their university educations. Francisco worked as an aircraft mechanic at Avianca and Midway Airlines and in several aircraft maintenance and repair companies at Miami International Airport.
A longtime resident of Homestead (Leisure City) FL, he and Gloria moved up to Miami Springs to live with his daughter after Hurricane Andrew. In retirement he loved working on projects around the house - Gloria's "honey do" lists. Francisco always looked forward to visits with family especially around family dinners. In recent years he and Gloria were regular visitors to the Miami Springs Senior Center.
A kind and gentle man, Francisco had great faith and will be missed by all who knew him. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28 at 9:30 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4020 Curtiss Parkway, Virginia Gardens, FL. Burial will be held privately.
