Maida P. Rodriguez, 77, of Hialeah, passed away on May 6th after a long battle with dementia surrounded by her loved ones.
Maida was born on January 24, 1945, to Diego Pilar and Hilda Fuentes in Havana, Cuba. After graduating from the University, Maida went on to teach Spanish. She was passionate about gymnastics and dancing.
She met the love of her life, Carlos Enrique Rodriguez, got married and had two children, Carlos Enrique and Jose Javier. She dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful wife and mother. The family immigrated to Miami, Florida in 1980.
Once in Miami, Maida eventually became a bookkeeper for Dur-O-Matic Water Heaters. Afterwards, she discovered a gift for cake decorating, and later floral designing and arrangements for Winn-Dixie. She also enjoyed gardening, and the company of her cats after losing the love of her life, her husband Carlos. Going to the beach on several family vacations was one of her favorite activities.
Maida was predeceased by her parents, Diego and Hilda, and husband, Carlos. She is survived by her siblings, Carlito and Maria del Carmen, her children, Carlos Enrique and Jose Javier, as well as six grandchildren Lukas, Emma, Joshua, Steven, Nicholas, and Katia.
Services will be held on May 11th at Caballero Rivero Hialeah Funeral Home from 6-10 pm. followed by a funeral mass on May 12th at Immaculate Conception Church at 12:30 p.m. Burial to follow at 2:00 pm at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Park West.
