

Phena Rose Fleming, 94, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 23rd after a brief illness. She was born in Homestead, Florida to Mario & Ruth Alfonso on August 18th, 1930.
In 1972, after being invited to the United Pentecostal Church of Miami by her neighbor, Phena received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, was baptized in Jesus Name, and her life was forever changed. She immediately became active in the Ladies Auxiliary, teaching Sunday School and was a prayer warrior.
In 1978, she met the love of her life, Larry. Married for 42 years, they did everything together. They loved people, taught home Bible studies, and had a heart for missions.
Soon after his passing, Phena moved to Tennessee to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She started attending the First Apostolic Church of Maryville. Phena lived independently in her own apartment until the final week of her life.
She is survived by her daughter Debra and son-in-law Art Schnitzer, son Randy Strong, stepsons David (Wilma) Fleming, Doug (Yvonne) Fleming. Grandchildren Melissa (Greg) Leonard, Shawn Fleming, Tim Fleming, Tracy Fleming. Great grandchildren Madelyn Leonard and Coda Fleming, as well as cousins, friends and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents, and her siblings.
