Alma Louise Elder, 93 of Taylorsville went home to be with her Lord Saturday, October 27, 2018. Her family was at her side. Alma was born on June 11, 1925 in Alexander County to the late Charles Alexander and Ollie Katherine Lail Fox. Alma was the only girl of eight children and the last to go home, her seven brothers precede her. She grew up caring for her brothers and naturally continued this as a homemaker to her family. She enjoyed caring for the needs of her family. It brought her great joy when she helped others. You could hear someone say “they don’t make them like that anymore”.
She was a wonderful wife to Clarence who has passed on, a caring mother to her daughters, Jane Hefner and Judy Ramsey and her husband Bobby; sons, Dean Rayford Elder and wife Martha Ann, Terry Lee Elder, Roger Dale Elder and his wife Janelle. And a loving grand-mother to her 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed…she already is.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 30 from 1:00PM to 1:45PM at The Drum Funeral Home, 940 29th Avenue NE, Hickory, 28601, 828-267-5740. A Celebration of Alma’s Life will begin at 2PM with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Her interment will commence in The Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.drumfh-hickory.com who has been entrusted with Alma’s Service arrangements.
