Alma Eckard Yount

HICKORY— Alma Eckard Yount, 81 of Hickory passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Brian Center of Viewmont. Born in Caldwell County on August 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Loyd David and Rosie Etta Pope Eckard. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn M. Yount; a sister Martha Stafford and a brother Bill Eckard. Alma was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She enjoyed cross stitching quilts and crocheting but most of all she had a unique artistic talent for drawing birds, wildflowers, and geometric patterns; she was always drawing on anything she could get her hands on and liked to give her drawings as gifts to those that touched her life. She is survived by her daughter Loretta Yount Myers and her husband William of Hickory; her son Jerry Reese of Hickory; a grandson Dillion Myers of Taylorsville; a sister Florence Brown of Trade, TN; and two brothers John Eckard of Landis and Fred Eckard of Hickory. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 11:00 am to 11:45am at Hickory Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, April 28, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Shook officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
