Bernard Martin Olson

CONOVER-Bernard Martin Olson, 79 of Conover, went on ahead of us to his permanent residence in heaven on, Friday, March 11, 2022 at Atrium Health Wake Forest. This is a gift from our heavenly father. Bernie is rejoicing with the Angels in the sky.

He was born December 29, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa to the late Len Marvin and Lillian Findeisen Olson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Douglas Martin Olson, his brother Larry Olson, and brother-in-laws, Jeff Ledford and Jimmy Duncan.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Vietnam War. Bernie retired from GKN Driveline after 22 years. His hobbies were bowling and wood working.

He is survived by wife of 54 years, Terri Olson of Conover, his daughter Crystal Olson of Hickory; his brother Leland Olson of Sloan, IA, sister-in-laws, Kay Ledford and Karen L. Duncan both of Hickory; nieces and nephews, Nancy Riley (John) of Phoenix, AZ, Pam Pomranky of Sloan, IA, Jim Olson (Kris) of Sloan, IA, Steve Olson of Sloan, IA, Gary Olson and wife Deb of Sloan, IA, Pamela Kale (Charlie) of Hickory, Brenda Weaver (Bobby) of Taylorsville, Michael Ledford (Angela) of Newton, Nikki Loudermilk (Anthony) of Newton, several cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Myers and Reverend Paul Cummings officiating.

Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park with military honors.
