Bernice Irene Ridgway

Hudson – Bernice Irene Ridgway, 93 of Hudson went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born on February 24, 1929 in Haywood County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Arlo Palmer, Sr. and Eula Messer Palmer.

In addition to her parents, Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Rhonda Palmer, a sister Lavonia Triplett, and a brother Gerald Palmer.

Those left to cherish her memory include, her husband of 60 years, Samuel H. Ridgway; three sons, Roy Price (Lethea), Gary Price (Helen) and Jack Holsclaw (Carolyn), stepson David Ridgway (Lisa) and stepdaughter Bette Hedrick (Bruce) and grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Brother Cecil Palmer (Margie); sister Rowena Cole (Derrell), sister Geraldine Huffman (Howard), sister Linda Schmitt, brother Arlo Palmer, Jr. (Sandy), sister Jewel Winkler.

Irene was a professional artist and was also a student of nursing and business administration. She served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

A Memorial Service will be held at Catawba Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Holly McKim officiating. The inurnment will be held at a later date at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends for a short time after the service.
