

Billy was born May 19, 1932 in Catawba Co. to the late Byan Dwight and Eva Eckard Bowman.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Eckard Bowman and a son, Dwight A. Bowman.
He was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Mo Synod, retired owner & operator of Bowman Roofing & Sheet Metal, a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Navy and a member of American Legion Post #48.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Herman Bowman of the home, sons; John T. Bowman and wife, Cathy, Joe A. Bowman and wife, Jackie both of Hickory and Jeffery L. Bowman and wife, Sandra of Raleigh, granddaughters; Christina Bowman of Charleston, Casey Bowman of Hickory and Ashley Kinley and husband, Jay of Cary, NC, grandsons; Tim Bowman and wife, Lindsay of Hickory, Adam Bowman and Andy Bowman both of Hickory, 3 great-grandchildren, sister; Becky Herman of Hickory, step daughters; Kim Long and husband, Wayne of Hickory and Kelly Burgin of Hickory, stepsons; Robert Patton, Jr. and wife, Marla of Conover and Jason Patton and wife, Lisa of Valdese, 8 step grandchildren.
Services will be at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Mo Synod on Friday, December 16, 2011, at 1:00 P. M. with the Reverends David Guelzow and David Ziehr officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by American Legion Post #48.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 – 8:30 PM at Hickory Funeral Home.
