Bobby Eugene Burns

Bobby was born August 21, 1931 in Rutherford Co. to the late Junis Lee and Claudia Barrett Burns.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Ann Roseman Burns; sisters, Gail Patricia Camp and Eileen Whitt a grandson, Dusty Eugene Burns and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Eckard Burns.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, retired from Hickory Chair after 35 years of service and after retirement he worked part time for Toy’s R US and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was the best father to his children who he loved and adored.

Surviving are his daughter, Sandra Burns Munday and husband, Edward of Hickory; his sons, Dennis Burns and wife, Dawn of Granite Falls, Mark Burns and fiancé, Debbie Austin of Hickory, Mike Burns and wife, Tammy of Conover and David Burns of Claremont; granddaughter, Erika Burns of Wilmington; grandsons, Kenny Burns of Louisiana, Dylan Burns of Conover and Colby Burns of Conover; sisters, Betty Hart of Hickory and Ann Ballard of Stanley; brothers, Donald Ray Burns of Rutherfordton and Harold Travis and wife, Laura of West Virginia and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be Sunday, January 22, 2012, at 3:00 PM at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Bert Dixon officiating.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with graveside honors by American Legion Post #48.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:45 – 2:45 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
