Carnell Connie Elizabeth Houser Burkett

CARNELL BURKETT CONOVER – Carnell “Connie” Elizabeth Houser Burkett, 90 of Conover went home to be with Jesus on May 26, 2016. She was born on August 27, 1925 in Burke County to the late Danny Nester and Claudia Carswell Houser. Connie loved to quilt for her friends and family and was an avid bowler. She was an Atlanta Braves fan and watched every game. Connie loved her friends and card buddies at Cedar Glen Apartments in Conover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Ree Burkett Sr and three brothers. Survivors include her children, Ronda Hale of Hickory, Willis Ree Burkett Jr of Chesnee SC, Bobby Joe Burkett of Hildebran, Claudia Burkett of Hickory, Myra Youngblood of Lincolnton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dan Houser of Lowesville. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 2 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Chaplin Susan Roddey officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd, Newton, NC 28658.
