Charles was born September 20, 1939 in Catawba Co. to Kathryn Propst Pope and the late Caleb Walker Gibbs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Paige Gibbs, and a sister, Valmenia Yount.
He was a member of Oxford Baptist Church, veteran of the U. S. Marines and retired from the Mecklenburg Co. Sheriff’s Dept.
Surviving are his son, Charles “Chuck” Lewis Gibbs, Jr. and fiancé, Katie Wright of Asheville; daughter, Tammy Denise Yount and husband, Danny, of Lexington; grandchildren, Terry, Danielle, Micah and and a great grandson, Jacob.
A memorial service will be Sunday, April 28, at 2:00 P.M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Frye officiating.
