Charles Ray Helton

TAYLORSVILLE—Charles Ray Helton, 80, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at his residence after a period of declining health. Charles was born September 17, 1935 in Alexander County to the late Frank and Esther Bolick Helton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother Paul Verlin Helton. He worked as an upholsterer for most of his life at Hickory Frye Furniture. He was also a member of Shiloh Lutheran Church. Charles is survived by his sister Phyllis Killian and her husband James of Taylorsville; brothers Dwight Helton, Lynn Helton and Roy Helton and wife Betty all of Taylorsville and a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kelly Hall for her care of Charles. The family will receive friends Monday, June 27, 2016 from 1:30pm to 2:45pm at Shiloh Lutheran Church followed by the funeral service at 3:00pm with Reverend Dave Hefner officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Bolick, Chris Arney, Al Blystone, Daniel Sullivan, Mark Sharpe and Bruce Clonch. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shiloh Lutheran Church 1011 Shiloh Church Road, Hickory, NC 28601 or Catawba Regional Hospice 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
