Charles Lewis Lail

CHARLES L. LAIL NEWTON – Charles Lewis Lail, 77, of Newton passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Born July 25, 1937 in Burke County, he was a son of the late James Otto and Florence Eckard Lail. Mr. Lail was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War having served on the USS Shangri-la. He was a member of American Legion Post 48. He always loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, gardening and playing cards. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ben Lail. Survivors include his daughters, Donna Price and husband Jeff, Debra Herman and husband Rick, Deede Billings and husband Greg, Krista Wingate and husband Jason; son, Chad Lail; grandchildren, Dusty Price and wife Melissa, Derek Price, Michael Mitchell and wife Naomi, Matthew Mitchell and wife Amanda, Aaron Herman, Aaron Billings and wife Amanda, Kathryn Billings, A. J. Wingate and Madilynn Lail; great grandchildren, Hudson Price, Ivy Price, Madison Mitchell, Grace Mitchell, Owen Mitchell and Everly Billings. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Catawba Funerals & Cremations Chapel at 6:30 PM with Pastor William Church officiating. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 48. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.catawbamemorialpark.com.
