Charles was born in Fountainbleu, France while his father, Charles E. Turnbill was stationed at NATO Headquarters during his service with the Air Force while accompanied by his wife, Nancy S. Turnbill. They lived there for several years before returning to the United States.
The family moved to California in the mid 1960’s. There, he married Christine Conners, and lived there together until they moved to Hickory, where his father was raised and where his father and mother were currently living. He and Christine eventually bought a home in Longview where Christine passed away in 2014.
Charles enjoyed his work in tire shops, he was retired when he passed away.
Charles enjoyed fishing, working on cars, growing vegetables and raising dogs. He enjoyed deep friendships, but led a private life. Charles had a very generous spirit about him.
Charles is survived by his mother, Nancy Turnbill and his sister Christine (Turnbill) Talmant.
