She was born in Aurora Illinois, on July 29th, 1934, to the late William Phillips and Karine Moore Phillips. She was married to Bernard Waitman Noble for 40 years.
She was a member of Fellowship Advent Christian Church of Alexander County for 56 years. Her home church was Marion Baptist Church in Aurora, Illinois. She started singing in the choir at the age of 13. When she and her husband moved to NC in January 1959, she joined the First Advent Christian Church where her father-in-law, Cecil Noble, was pastor. She sang in the choir, was a member of WHFMS, and assisted with King Jewels. When her father-in-law left and went to First Advent in Lenoir, she sang in their choir. In 1970 they joined Fellowship Advent Christian Church.
Charlyn was a homemaker for her married years except for Thanksgiving- New Years in 1971, when she worked part time at Belk’s Men’s Department in the old Catawba Mall.
Along with her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband Bernard Waitman Noble and a brother Bill Phillips of Illinois.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters; Debbie McClure (Bob) of Siler City and Michele Noble (Sue McKendry) of Asheboro, her son; Stephen Noble (Kathy) of Newton. Grandchildren; Michael Coyle of Siler City, Matthew Coyle of Newark Delaware, Katelyn Noble Williams (Tyler) of Maiden, Keegan Noble (Jordan) of Shelby, and Kennedie Noble of Newton. Great Grandchildren; Thatcher Williams of Maiden, Hendrix Williams of Maiden, and Zella Noble of Shelby. She is also survived by a brother, Bob Phillips (Sharon) of Big Rock Illinois.
A funeral service will be held on Monday October 12th, 2026, at Fellowship Advent Christian Church of Alexander County at 12:00pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:45am-11:45am at the church. Reverend Michael Bassett and Reverend Bill Millinor will be officiating the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
