

HICKORY---- Christopher Craig Guess, 37 passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, unexpectedly due to an automobile accident. Chris was born December 19, 1977 in Catawba County to Michael Guess and Sharon Scronce. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Frankie and George Miller; paternal grandparents Vernon and Billie Guess; and an Aunt Angie Logan. He was foremost a devoted husband, father and friend. His children meant everything to him. He was the true provider to his family. He enjoyed playing golf, flying rc airplanes, cooking, dirt biking, boating, loved animals and always remembered the earlier days of his family’s gatherings on Sunday at Mamaws. Family was priority over all things and he showed his love immensely to each one of us. Chris is remembered as one of the best pilots you could ever fly with. He could fly by the seat of his pants and was very comfortable in the cockpit. He flew straight and right. Chris grew up in Hickory and attended St. Stephens Lutheran Missouri Synod. He attended St. Stephens High School and Caldwell Community College earning his aviation licenses. Chris was the owner and operator of Foothill Aviation and enjoyed his career. He looked forward to taking his wife and children on trips with him. He is survived by his wife Carrie Guess; his children Carrigan Adalie Guess 5yr, Conley Aldrin Guess 3yr and Charis Arlana Guess 1yr, of Statesville; his mother Sharon Scronce ; his father Michael Guess; brother Jason Guess of Hickory; step-sister Carrie Scronce Lineberger; mother-in-law Cindy Underwood ; Aunts and Uncles, Gaye Manos, Beverly Lingerfelt, and Debbie Brannock; cousins Brandon Bolick, Kevin Bolick, Misty Patterson, Shawn Lingerfelt. Pallbearers will be pilots that flew with Chris. The family will receive friends, Monday April, 13, 2015 at Hickory Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 12:00pm at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wilford Walls officiating. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Lutheran Missouri Synod Church Cemetery. Condolences may be made online at www.hickoryfh.com.
