HICKORY---Claude Bennett McMahan, 85, passed away on Sunday December 22, 2013 at Trinity Village following a period of declining health. Claude was born March 4, 1928 in High Point to the late Bennett and Bertha Swing McMahan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Melba Drum McMahan, brothers, Walter McMahan and Jack McMahan: a sister, Lucille Fulbright..Claude was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in World War II, a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and retired from Blue Ridge Distributors.Surviving are two daughters, Peggy M. Epps of Conover, Cathy Mosley and husband, Jimmy of Shelby, three sons, Bennett Lee McMahan and wife, Jackie of Columbia, SC, James A. McMahan and wife, Nina of Fletcher, NC, William “Bill” McMahan of the home, seven grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren, a brother, Butch McMahan of Hickory and a sister, Ruby McCray of Raleigh. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at 2:00 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dan Duke officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 24, 2013 from 12:00 – 1:45 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
