D. Thomas "Tom" Fredell

D. Thomas “Tom” Fredell, 80, of Hickory, NC, passed away on February 16, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born August 17, 1935 in Lincoln County, NC, he was the son of late Robert Claude Fredell and Nettie Sigmon Fredell.

Tom, a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, was a member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS), loved fishing and hunting and retired from the electrical business.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Fredell.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia “Pat” Spencer Fredell; sons, Michael Fredell and wife, Angie of Louisville, KY, Spencer Fredell and wife, Fran of Hickory; daughters, Kelly Blevins and husband, Tim of Conover and Kristi Dietrich and husband, Lee of Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Jessica Jordan, Wesley Fredell, Ethan Dietrich, Ben Dietrich, Carson Suddeth, Haley Suddeth, Gracie Fredell and Hannah Fredell; great-grandchildren, Tucker Fredell and Gabriel Fredell; sisters, Margie Austin of Vale, Margaret Reed of Newton and Pat Smith of Hickory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Hickory with Rev. David Guelzow and Rev. David Ziehr officiating. A graveside service with military rites by the Marine Corp League, Catawba Valley Detachment 1163, will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

Pallbearers to honor Mr. Fredell will be Wesley Fredell, Ethan Dietrich, Ben Dietrich, Michael Jordan, Lee Dietrich and Tim Blevins.
