Daniel Eugene Lail

Born in Catawba County, on August 18, 1944, he was the son of the late Shuford and Aileen Simmons Lail. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother.

Daniel was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His service remains a meaningful part of his legacy. Daniel found joy in spending time gardening, listening to Oldies and Carolina Beach Music, and settling in to watching Old Westerns. A lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church, Daniel’s faith and commitment to his church community were steady threads throughout his life.

Survived by girlfriend Linda Bolick of Hickory; cousins Don and wife Sylvia Lail, Janice and husband Calvin Buchanan, Stephen Lail, Debbie Estee, Larry Lail, and Gary Lail and other relatives and numerous friends.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11:00 am at Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend Alec Fisher and Reverend Dr. David Ludwig officiating. Gathering of friends will be 30 minutes prior to service.
