David Lee Montgomery Sr.

DAVID LEE MONTGOMERY Sr. NEWTON – David Lee Montgomery Sr., 68, of Newton went home to be with his Lord on September 19, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 29, 1946 in Wood County, WV he was the son of the late Harley Montgomery and Martha Montgomery Roberts. David was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an ordained Minister with the Assemblies of God. He belonged to the Seniors Morning Out in Newton, where he did devotionals and he sang to them. David enjoyed working in his garden. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Thomas Montgomery, Edna Jane Marty, Willard Ray Montgomery, James Montgomery, Robert Montgomery, and Julia Goff. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Diana Montgomery of Newton, sons, David Montgomery Jr. and wife Robin of Columbus OH, Charles Montgomery and wife Shannon of Morganton; grandchildren, Christopher Montgomery of Columbus, Randall Montgomery of Columbus, Samantha Montgomery of Morganton, Ryan Montgomery of Morganton; brother, John Montgomery of Parkersburg, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11 AM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations with Dr. Charles Kelly and Bishop Warren Marcum officiating. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
