David and his family were special to me and our family. I have wonderful memories of our families together when I was a child. As I grew to an adult those memories changed to a more meaningful relationship. When he moved into his house in Bethlehem, I would see him once a week as we mowed the lot beside his house. Every week I would find him out on the porch waiting on me. On the hot days he would have a water for me, and on the rainy days he would have a towel for me to dry off. Him and Doris would share stories and also share advice or as he said wisdom! I can see him sitting on the porch in heaven sharing and receiving wisdom with His Father! He will be missed.

I have always enjoyed our many years together; but the Thursdays together with Jerry and other were so close and loving and blessed. I will miss that with David. We talked on the phone many times during his "stay at home" time - we both had a hearing problem, so you might say we talked pretty loud! HA! But we always communicated. I love him and I think a lot of his family. Thank you Debbie to being there for my friend. When I married almost 55 years ago, I introduced my wife, Linda, to them and she loved them both as much as I did. A very special family for us. I am going to miss David so much. Love and prayers to all the family.

I am so sorry to learn of your father’s passing. Growing up my brothers and I spent hours with my mother Lib Johnson at the old police department as she was a UPI stringer at that time. I have such fond memories of David, Muldoon and Cliff as they always took time to gotcha us, play jokes and the bubblegum from Cliff. You would not remember but your mom and David even invited us over for one of your birthday parties. I never saw your dad without his smile and that it how I will remember him. You are in my prayers and you were so blessed to have such a wonderful man for your father. God bless.

Dear Noble Family,
I am writing on behalf of my parents, Ray and Lucille Sherrill, and my two brothers and myself(Gary and Alan and Lori). We are so sorry for your loss. Our family has always been members of Tabernacle Advent Christian Church in Lenoir where we fell in love with Cecil and Anna; so much so that when I got married in 1986 Cecil and Hal Vannoy preached my wedding. I wasn’t going to have it any other way. Years before that, we would go to visit Cecil and Anna at their house in the mountains and have some of the most wonderful visits ever! I remember looking at the pictures of the 3 boys and trying to memorize who was who. I was an early teenager at that time...but at times it seems like just a few years ago. Time has a way of getting away from us! Just know that we will keep you and your family in our prayers. Be sure to know you will see him again in Heaven.

Worked with David at HPD until he retired and visited him and Doris on a number of occasions until I retired 2008. David made my wife and let a table a number of years ago which was of fine workmanship. He was brother in blue and a true friend. Rest well my friend until we meet again.

Dear Family,
We pray for you and grieve with you as well. He was one of the very first people to greet me and my wife as we came to Hickory and one of the very last to bid us farewell as we left there. I will never forget his and Doris' kindness and goodness to my family.
Cordially, Ronnie Wong

We never had the joy of meeting David Sr. but we know his grandson Bobby very well. David’s impact upon Bobby was evident. His influence commendable. Praying for your family during this difficult time. So very thankful for the promise of heaven.
