ICARD-DC Houston, 90 passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Grace Hospital, Morganton, NC surrounded by loving family. He was born on March 6, 1930 to the late Quint Houston and Barbara Helton Houston. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Henry River Baptist Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rebecca Lorene Houston; granddaughter Ginger Berry, grandson Marty Barnes, three sisters Violet Brittain, Kathyrn Patton and Betty Kiser, five brothers Glen Houston, Paul Houston, Clyde Houston, Eugene Houston, and Bill Houston. Survivors include daughter Libby Abernathy of Hickory; sons, Gary Houston of Denver, Bryan Houston of Icard, Gregory Houston and wife Charlene of Connelly Springs; grandchildren, Kellie French and husband Curtis of Morristown, TN, Heather Clevenger and husband David of Hickory, Connie Houston of Hickory, Misty Poore of Canton, Jeremy Houston of Vale, Gregory Lance Houston, Jr. of Morganton; eight great grandchildren; sister Christine Hoyle of Icard; brothers, Lenoire Houston of Hildebran, Vernon Houston and wife Jessie of Hickory; brother-in-law, James Triplett; and many nieces and nephews. Service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Henry River Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Hudson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. in the church. The family will be at the residence of Libby Abernathy, Hickory. Pall bearers will include, Curtis French, Ricky Houston, Keith Houston, Jimmy Houston, Riley Duncan, and Roger Swanson.
