Donald R. Hedrick, 88, of Hickory, passed away on June 6, 2018 at his residence. Born May 12, 1930 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Stella Little Hedrick. A veteran of the US Army, he was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and retired as a master barber. Donald was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was the love of Judy’s life. Donald was loved and respected by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by everyone. He was a member of the ski patrol at Sugar Mountain Ski Resort for 28 years. He loved water skiing and outdoor sports. He completed a twenty eight hundred mile cross country bicycle tour at age 66 and was still an active cyclist until age 81.
Donald is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judith McGinnis Hedrick; daughters, Rhonda Brown and husband Paul and Treva Parrish and husband Heyward; step-son, Jeffery Hines and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Monica Krusemark, Taylor Abee and Logan Brown; and step-granddaughter, Tiffany Roper.
A memorial service with Military Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. Chris Webb and Rev. Robert Allen officiating with inurnment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive from 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
