Mr. Donald Ray Reid

Donald was born on April 29th, 1937 in Caldwell County to the late Horace James and Anna Rosalee Hefner Reed.

Donald was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War and was a former member of The Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Gross Reid of the home, a daughter; Donna Reid and husband, Tim of Kannapolis, a son; Terry Reid and wife, Carla of Lenoir, grandchildren; Joseph Scott Reid, Anna Rose Reid, Jackson Donald Reid and Emmaline Grace Reid, and three sisters; Ruth Bowman of Hickory, Betty Austin and husband, Cade of Charlotte, Peggy Childress and husband, David of Granite Falls, two nieces and two nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 14th, 2010 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Reverends Kenneth Little, Kenneth Lambert and Robert Livingston officiating.

The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be S.E. Hefner, Terry Gresham, Rick Gross, David Gross, Corky Sherrill and Alton Reed.

Military graveside Honors will be conducted by The American Legion Post #48.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 13th, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
