Born April 18, 1938 in Catawba County to the late Harley Loyd Lowman and Florence Susan Heavner. Dorothy was married to the late David Oren Huffman. She had two sisters; Kathleen Hefner, and Clara Mae Bolick, three brothers; Melvin Lowman, Jerald Baxter Lowman, and JD Lowman who preceded her in death. She leaves a number of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Hildebran United Methodist Church was where Dottie chose to worship.
She enjoyed trips to the beach and the mountains. David, her husband, and Dorothy loved gem mining searches in the mountains of North Carolina and invited family and friends to tag along. She loved to travel and had an adventurous side. Dorothy was the kindest and most giving person, she always wanted to make everyone happy and was loved by many.
Dorothy retired from Belk Department Store in 2017 and won awards for her service of 56 years. She liked to work and continued part time at Shoe Show in Hickory, NC.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at Tuesday, November 11th at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory, NC.
