Dorothy Marie Styles Nguyen

Dorothy Marie Styles Nguyen, 55, of Hickory, passed away on December 8, 2014 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born December 19, 1958 in Yancey County, NC, she was daughter of the late Ules Grant Styles and Atlas Davis Styles. She loved living life. She enjoyed traveling, crafts, painting and remodeling. She had a special love for all of her cats, especially Ruddie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert David Styles; sisters, Ruby Styles Walker, and Edna Styles Walker; and brother-in-law, Telsie Davis.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 27 years, Vu Nguyen; brother, Odell Styles and wife Sherri; sisters, Helen Davis, Edith Bridges and husband Doug, Alma Ayers, Wilma Autrey and husband Gary; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, Xuan and Thuy Nguyen of California; brothers-in-law, Tony, Mike and Andy Nguyen of California and sister-in-law, Cindy Nguyen of California.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. Greg Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Drum Funeral Home in Hickory prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be given to the Humane Society of Catawba County, P O Box 63, Hickory, NC 228603.

Pallbearers to honor Dorothy will be her family and friends.
