DOROTHY M. REESE NEWTON – Dorothy M. Reese, 93 of the Startown Community passed away peacefully on January 23, 2017 at Trinity Ridge. Born on February 25, 1923 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Raleigh Wilhelm Middleton. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Sweetwater Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and was active of the Presbyterian Women’s Group. With her husband Dorothy enjoyed working with the Meals on Wheels program. She retired from CR Laine after many years as a sewer. Dorothy loved traveling with her husband, they visited all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Hugh O. Reese, grandson, Cory Joe Hans; son-in-law, Bill Hans Sr; daughter-in-law, Denelda Reese; 4 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include her children, David Reese and fiancée Barbara Waters of Claremont, Jeanette Cline and husband LeRoy of Newton, Brenda Hans of Newton; grandchildren, Thad Cline of Hickory, Steven Cline and wife Belinda of Newton, Candance Rodriquez and husband Jose of Charlotte, Garrett Reese and wife Lisa of Mooresville, Bill Hans Jr. and wife Amanda of Mooresville, Andrew Hans and wife Nana of Raleigh; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Middleton and wife Peggy of Charlotte, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11 AM at Sweetwater Presbyterian Church with Rev. Catherine Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Catawba Funerals & Cremations.
