Dorothy Williams Smith, age 87, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 31 2015 following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arven Odell Smith Sr. and sister, Bernice Green Barnette. Dorothy is survived by one son, Arven Odell Smith Jr. of Hickory; three daughters, Dorothy Faye Smith of Mountain View, Joyce Irene Smith of Connelly Springs and Deborah Hensley and husband Douglas of Morganton; sister Geneva Helen Palmer and brother Frank Edward Williams, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11am, Friday February 6th at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory with Pastor Darvy Hensley officiating. The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM at Catawba Funeral Home.
