Dorothy R. Sronce

HICKORY---Dorothy “Dot” Irene Reese Sronce, 92, of Hickory passed away July 12, 2011 at Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley after declining health. She went to be with her heavenly father.

She was born December 29, 1918 in Catawba Co. to the late George Henry and Fannie Mae Reese.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for sixty plus years. She was very active in Pauline Deaton Sunday School Class, Women’s Group Lydia and Seniors Golden Agers.

She graduated from Blackburn High School as Valedictorian of her class.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Lander “Joe” Sronce, brothers, Adrian (Virginia), Charles, Ralph and sisters, Sarah and Minnie Reese, Rebecca (Fred) Higgins, Katherine Thornburg (Lee) .

She leaves to cherish her loving memory a son, Phillip Eugene Sronce and wife, Joyce, of Hickory, daughter, Rosemary Irene Fuller of Matthews, N. C. and son, Timothy Joe Sronce and wife, Elizabeth “Beth” of Summerfield, N. C., sister-in-law, Novella Reese of Hickory, Frances Rheinhardt and Catherine Pope are two of her closest friends who were like sisters.

She was a most loving and caring grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 3:00 P. M. at Bethany Lutheran Church with Reverend Dan Duke officiating.

Family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
