

Dwight “Gramps” Arthur Caldwell, Sr., age 99, of Hickory, passed away at Brookdale Hickory Northeast on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Dwight was born in Maiden, on Saturday, June 7, 1924 to the late James and Edith Caldwell.
In addition to his parents, Dwight was preceded in death by his son, Dwight Arthur Caldwell, Jr; brothers, Kermit, Jack, Warren, Charles, Joe, Fred, Herbert, Frank Caldwell; and sister, Martha Dean C. Thomas.
Dwight was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He served in the US Army Air Corp as an Aircraft Mechanic in WWII. He was a department manager at Sears for 23 years and later worked for William C. Reynolds. Dwight was a member of First Baptist Church in Hickory.
Those left to cherish Dwight’s memory are his wife of 75 years, Betty Rose Yount Caldwell; daughters, Teresa Marie C. Allen (Harry), Dawn C. Seamon and partner, Steve; grandchildren, Christopher Carl Seamon, Heather Marie Seamon; and great grandchildren, Jax, Ford, and Matix Luczka.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 1pm-1:45pm at First Baptist Church, 339 2nd Ave NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 31, 2023 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will be held with military rites following the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 3120 Falling Creek Rd, Hickory, NC 28601 .
