Mrs. Edith "Edie" Eleanor McCoury Brown

She was born April 27, 1932 in Avery Co. to the late William and Rhetta Buchanan McCoury.

Edie was also preceded in death by her husband Irvin Calloway Brown in August of 1997, a granddaughter Kimberly White, and a brother Jack McCoury.

Edie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Mature Christian’s of Christ Church and L.W.M. L. She was also a retired employee at Wal-Mart of Hickory.

Surviving are her two daughters, Diane White and husband Mike of Monroe Lois Hefner and husband Jeff of Sugar Hill, GA; four grandsons Kevin White and wife Kristin of Hawaii, Carl White of Asheville, Ryan Hefner of Sugar Hill, GA and Davin Hefner and wife Melissa of Colorado Springs, CO; two great granddaughters, Kaia White and Layla White of Hawaii, three sisters; Ethel Lail of Conover, Louise Garland of Spruce Pine and Bobbie Eller of Charlotte and three brothers; Herbert Miller of Rustburg, VA, Charles Greer of Swannanoa and Russell Greer of Salisbury.

Services will be Friday, December 24, at 11:00 A. M. at Christ Lutheran Church with the Reverend Richard Schwandt officiating.

Interment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 7:30 P. M. at Hickory Funeral Home.
