

Edward proudly served his country, serving in the US Army during the Korean War as an Artillery Specialist. After leaving the Army, Edward had the opportunity to join the Concrete and Cement Workers Union. Always good with his hands, he not only took pride but truly relished the friends, relationships and memories working in construction. He was involved with many historical projects including the 1964 New York World’s Fair and New York’s Shea Stadium, just to name a few. Edward was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Hickory who loved gardening, wood working and animals.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Rose Marie Romo of Hickory; grandnephew, Gene Romo of Hickory; niece, Jacqueline Tuzzio and husband Dennis Griffin of Secaucus, New Jersey; brother in law, Peter Barberio and wife June of Port Charlotte, Florida and many close friends.
At Edward’s request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 501 Archale Dr., Charlotte NC 28217, The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd. suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 34, P.O. Box 1, Hickory, NC 28601.
